Hello,

We recently bought a few refurbished HP prodesk 600 g1 sff's from Newegg. The first batch had intel 1500 series 240gb SSD's. We just got our second batch and the 240gb ssd had no name or brand. Even in the bios it just shows up as "240GB SSD". The hardware ID field in device manager is:

"SCSI\Disk240GB________________SSDQ052
SCSI\Disk240GB________________SSD
SCSI\Disk240GB___
SCSI\240GB________________SSDQ
240GB________________SSDQ
GenDisk"

The physical SSD is just a plain back stamped aluminum case. Not a single S/N or label.

I am concerned.... Any advise or a way to ID these SSD's?

If Passmark didn't identify the brand/model #, it was probably some OEM drive that HP had made for them. If you got a good deal on the refurbished computers, even if you have to replace the SSD's you will probably be ahead of the game. MicroCenter has some "Inland" SSDs at a low price, $60 for a 240GB model.
Companies often change parts due to availability, especially storage.

Even cheaper SSD's have very long life in terms of writes so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I would make a backup Image using a tool like Acronis True Image though (even with the best drives in the world).

When you say "no name" did you physically look at the drive?

Ill give passmark a try and see what it finds. I ran crystalDiskMark and the performance doesn't seam too bad... Not 850 pro level, but not as bad as a DRAM-less ssd.

Well, passmark shows the brand as "240GB SSD" the passmark score for the disk is 3684, so not too bad.

Lets just hope they don'e die the day after the 1 year limited warranty expires...
