My pc:
I5 3470
R9 270x
8gb 1600mhz
1155 mobo
Seasonic 700watts

With the current gpu and ram prices is it worth it to upgrade to a g4560+1050ti?
I can sell my rig for 280$+ savings for a 500$ rig. But i can only build a g4560+1050ti

OR

I'll just use my savings to buy a used i7 3770 and gtx 970 which has no upgrade path for me but will satisfy me for 3-4 years?

Solution
Get a ryzen 2400G instead, it's better to have a strong cpu.

Try to overclock u ram to 2933mhz at 1.35v if it's a 1.2v stick or 1.5v if it's a 1.35v stick. And go for 2x4gb not 1x8gb.

Isn't the seasonic M12 Evo 520w or corsair cxm 450 or fsp hydro series not available there?

I don't really see a reason to get rid of your i5 for a downgrade/sidegrade (depending on what stuff you use it for) but in terms of gaming, a 4 core i5 won't really bottleneck your performance even with something like a GTX 1070. Although 1080 or higher might be reasonable to think about CPU upgrades but won't make sense unless you plan to get a 1440p monitor or are trying to run games on ultra at 144hz.

If you can find a cheap 970, sure grab one and enjoy the performance bump. If not, a 1050ti will still be good but you'll be paying the crypo tax until prices die down. I say don't upgrade, but if you do consider upgrading, save up and look for deals when ddr4 becomes affordable.

Why don't you just add the 970 or 1050 Ti now? Then live with it for a while, long enough to see if your games still require more CPU power, I suspect they won't. If/when you do require more CPU power then you can still buy a new CPU/motherboard/DDR4 combo. There's no reason you need to buy the new CPU before the videocard.

Don't judge the i5 3470's performance by what you're getting now. That 270X is an entry level gaming card these days, your i5 can handle more.

As you guys can see ddr3 is getting old now that's why im thinking to buy a g4620 to be able to have a ddr4 ram and motherboard features. But the pricing as of now is very unreasonably high. But if an i7 3770 can survive for 3-4 years its the best bet plus it would be cheaper

Currently gpu prices are skyrocketing.....even 1050tis go around fr $220-250.....so I would rather suggest u to buy a used 980ti...as it goes around fr $250-330 in the used market....and provides some solid frame rates
Also...I don't see any problem in using 3470
Just overclock it a bit using BASECLOCK OVERCLOCK nd u r good to go

when upghrading one chooses to do a fgull uphgrade ot upgrade the main compnents.
in your case the cheaper is the second one.

1. upgrade CPU,SDRAM, Motherboard
2. get a GTX 970/980
3. sell old ram, motherboard and cpu separately. on eBay.

enjoy
here is what I suggest.

Guys i've been thinking to sold my rig and use my 500$ budget to buy an ryzen 2200g and use it integrated graphics until i have the money to buy a used 970
This is the price here in our country (PH)
Ryzen3 2200g (110$)
Msi B350m bazooka (95$)
Used 8gb hyperx/gskill ram (80$)
Used cougar 650watts 80+ bronze (20$)
Omega sapphire case+omega fan kit (70$)
Used ssd (40$)
I have a spare 2tb hdd.

Total of: 415$ leaving me a 85 dollar spare. I'll just save for another 1 or 2 months to buy an gtx 970.

What do you guys think? I've been thinking for a coffelake build but the motherboard prices are still high. And i realized im going to recieve the same fps and settings that i have right now for g4620+1050ti. And imo 1050ti's price is not worth it as of now because it's the same price as a used 970
