Switched PCI-E slots - ok without driver wipe/reinstall?

Like a fool, I wasn't aware of the difference between PCI-E slots. Had my card in the lower 16 because it looks like it'd fit better there, but happened to notice in BIOS it was only using 8 lanes. Some googling revealed the top slot is best, which ended up fitting better after some minor tweaking anyways.

After powering back up, my system instantly did a bit of a soft reboot on its own, and then loaded Windows with the latest driver either still installed or reconfigured for the top slot.

I've read mixed opinions on whether a fresh driver install is needed, but so far it seems to be running smoothly. Wanted to get more people's opinions on this also in case others might have done something similar.

Thanks,

If everything works and performance is as expected, then you can skip driver reinstall.
But you may want to check, if you have the latest driver version.
