What would be a good overclock for the I5 8600K?

In my rig, I have a 980ti FTW, 16gb of DDR4 @3000 (XMP), an I5 8600k at stock (3.6 at 1 volt), and an ASUS Z370-I with that lit RGB. I am running my CPU at stock rn with no system overclocks, and my RAM is running at 3000mhz using XMP. Just wanted to know how I should overclock it to a stable degree while giving my GPU a break as it has been having minor crashes due to slight over-heating. Thanks for any response in advance...

Solution
Just an update, I used MSI afterburner to set my fan curve and everything on my GPU, I also set the max temp to 83C at 100% power usage and the problem seems to be fixed, I also used DDU to do a clean install of drivers for my GPU. I am also installing Noctua high pressure fans to my H100i v2 and as an exhaust (I have an ITX build...) Thanks all for the responses!

I wanted to over clock to allow my GPU to be used less in some games, which would decrease temperature (Even by a slight amount). Thanks for the link BTW.

Admirable
If you want to run your GPU cooler you don't Overclock CPU. Increase Fan speed on GPU to lower temp, you will probably hear some more noise since fans will spin faster. You can also downclock GPU a bit for like -50 MHz or so to lower temps even more.
Maybe you have Enhanced Turbo Boost enabled in BIOS and that makes your system crash since you used XMP and it probably didn't tell you that ETB is enabled, try to disable it and see how will it go.

That is not how it works lol. If anything overclocking the CPU would make the GPU work harder if he CPU was bottlnecking the 980 ti (which I highly doubt). So overclocking the CPU would not affect GPU temps in anyway in your system.
