Yeah, so I figured I'd start doing my backups, because my system hasn't blown up on me for quite some time considering its my first build :)

So, I have some games from Steam, an iTunes app, and of course the entirety of the Windows OS and all of the drivers I had to install from dvd's. Otherwise, nothing in the standard documents, pictures, videos, etc folders. So...what should I highlight as a backup.

Why not the whole drive(s)?
If you have sufficient space, that is FAR easier than trying to pick and choose.

And a "backup" should not be 'one and done', but rather an ongoing process.

That "8TB" is for MY use.
Your needs may be different.

How much space do you have consumed on the drive(s) in your system?

Assuming my 120gb SSD will not be involved...
about 300 gb on my newer HDD and its a completely empty 1tb hard drive from an old system made in 2008.

By the 8 tb thing, I meant why do you need so much...heheh

For the 8TB...when you're backing up a 4 x 4TB NAS, with ~6TB used space....you need a large drive.

For your needs, a 1 or 2TB USB external drive would backup the whole thing, and last years.
$70

You don't want your "backup" inside the same PC.

Oh crap, misread what you had. I thought it was what was remaining...the 120 gb SSD is at around 80 gb full, and the hard drive is sitting around 250 gb full. The other hdd is empty. Probably same result though. Jeez, I need to focus, long day for me...
