Ryzen 1700 Normal Temps?

Hi all,

I just put together a new build with a Ryzen 1700, and I'm getting idle temps of 20C. When stressing with Prime95, it levels off around 55C.

On my old build, I had an FX-6100, and I could get idle temps of 10-15C, and no higher than 50C under full load.

Are these new temps for the Ryzen 1700 normal? Or should I shoot for something lower? Thanks for your help.

Solution
Core Temp should read accurately. lately there has been a bit of confusion in reading Ryzen core temps due to their architecture. If Core Temp reads tCTL° instead of Tj° temperature, it is accurate. There is a 20C difference between the two. More info

The latest version of Ryzen Master will give you accurate reading if you want to verify.

That is fine. In the case of your FX-6100, I doubt you were reading the correct temp. 10-15C is 50-59F, lower than room temp in most homes unless you live in an igloo. Even at idle, the CPU should be warmer than room temp.

What are you using to read temp on the Ryzen?

Well, I keep my computer gear in my basement, and I'm in Michigan, so they temperature down there is always very, very cold. I use a variety of programs to monitor temps, but I'm currently using CoreTemp.
