Hi guys, so currently I'm stuck with an FX 4350 until I eventually upgrade to ryzen when ddr4 drops in price. I see a lot of games mim requirements is a fx8350 but have been told it's only a slight performance increase between the two. My question is will my cpu handle those games due to the little difference or should I avoid these titles for now? (low settings is fine obviously)

Solution
I suggest you buy the game you want and try it out.
Very few can make good use of more than 2-3 threads.
It turns out that the single thread performance of FX-4350 and the 6 and 8 thread upgrades is very similar.

I would not spend more on that platform which is obsolete.

$250 can buy you a stronger cpu/mobo/ram replacement.

It does depend on the game title. Some of the newer games will take advantage of more threads, but most really need one fast core to do the bulk of the work.

If you shop around on ebay you can probably get an FX-8300, 8320, 8350 or 8370 relatively cheaply if you want to tide yourself over. FX-8300 can be had new for $95.

Games usually favour higher clock speeds over the amount of cores. I have a fx 6300 @4.1 ghz paired with a gtx 1060 and i run doom at ultra settings and rarely go below 55 fps. Fx 4350 should do the trick provided you have a decent gpu with it.

Well I have a gm78lmt USB3 I think and I've been told the FX 8350 won't work on it even tho it says it's compatible... I'm unsure if anyone can confidently tell me differently but ideally I'd like not too have to but a new mobo aswell
