I’m looking for a semi modular psu for my new build, I’m going to have a i7 7700k ASUS striz z270 mobo, 16gb ram a water cooler and 3 fans, as well as a gtx 780ti soon to be replaced by either a gtx 1060 xtreme or a Volta card when it comes out, my question is what watt psu to get, I’m also going to overclock the 7700k to 4.6-4.7 ghz

Solution
Yes it will. It benefit u more. But if you can scrounge up that extra cash, u will have better gaming performance as well as video editing performance with the 8700k.

If you plan on overclocking, something like a 550-650W would work. 7700k should be good to 4.8Ghz without much effort.

My off the top of my head recommendation would be a Corsair RMx 650W. But if you actually want semi-modular there are a few seasonic models to look at.

I'm on a budget of £550 for ram mobo and cpu and the only processors i'd get is a k version and the 8700k is about £75 more than the 7700k and the mobos are about £20 more than what i have planned already

I actually want to do video editing and rendering which is why i thought the 4core 8 threads would be better than the 6/6

With an i5 8600k the cost of my system goes down by £45, is the ryzen 1700x a good price and would help with streaming, gaming and video editing?

would the asus z270h still be a good motherboard for the intel socket? and is it a motherboard that supports overclocking?
