Dual RAM on motherboard with quad channel

can I use dual channel kit in quad channel motherboard, for example I have dual channel RAM and I'm changing motherboard and processor form i7 6700k on i7 6850k but I still have my old 64GB dual kit and I wish to use it with new motherboard, does it works ? ? ?
