All microphones not working, but they work on other computers

Hi.
I have a computer with the Windows 10 Insider Preview 17074.1002 build. All microphones don't work when plugged into the computer, but they work on other computers. Even internal audio software like VB-Audio-Cable doesn't work. I've tried updating all my drivers for everywhere, and I'm specifically trying to get my Blue Snowball mic to work. Sound output works fine too.
My motherboard is the MSI z170 Gaming M5, if that helps.

Solution
Solution found: this is an issue with Windows Insider. You can fix it by going to the registry setting under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\microphone
and changing the "Value" key from "Deny" to "Allow"

Oh, sorry, what I mean by non physical is simulated, i.e. a software generated audio input device. Also, all the microphones had been working previously.
And I suppose I should have clarified that yes, I have tried other ports.

I.e., "virtual".

Focus on getting one virtual "software generated audio input devices" working first.

Do you truly have multiple physical microphone inputs that must become selectable as a single virtual microphone?

I believe that I am missing something here. Thanks.

Yea could be an issue with the preview build, as mentioned you should report to MS proper - that's why you're running a preview / insider edition correct?

To eliminate HW issues with the sound card itself, grab a bootable linux like Ubuntu 17.10.1 desktop and run it in live mode - should be able to see if the mic works in short order, check out AudioCapture@ubuntuhelp

Good plan. I will try and report back.

Ralston18, not sure what you're missing. My mics are in working order, my ports are working, they are detected, enabled, unmuted, but no sound comes through.

Agree

You have narrowed it all down enough to the point where physically everything works which is my understanding unless I have overlooked or "missed" something else there that should be checked or tested.

However some error of omission or commission with respect to the preview build and/or virtual software configuration is likely to be the culprit.

Doolittle's suggestion to try another environment (Linux) would certainly help to narrow things down.

I.e., if the microphones work there then the problem most likely is within the preview build or the virtual software.
