Need Help with Upgrade Path Decisions

I recently got back into PC gaming (mostly R6 Siege, PubG and Fortnite) and need a bit of help with deciding the best upgrade path to take as I can’t decide on which piece of hardware I need to upgrade, which pieces to upgrade first and which upgrades to purchase.
Reasons for upgrading include: I would like a better, more stable and consistent experience when gaming and because it hasn’t been upgraded for a couple of years making me feel like it’s a bit lacklustre/behind.

Current Specs:
CPU: Intel i5-4590 3.3GHz
GPU: ASUS Strix R9 380 2gb
MOBO: MSI H97 Gaming 3
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 16gb DDR3
PSU: Corsair CX600M
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM 24” 60hz

Possible Purchases/Upgrades in Mind:
CPU: i7-4790/i74790K(approx. $500AUD on EBAY) or something cheaper than these but better than the i5-4590
GPU: Nvidia 1060 6gb(MSI, ASUS, GeForce which ever is better) or equivalent AMD if it’s worth it, I can’t quite decide if I want to switch to Nvidia or not
Monitor: BenQ XL2430 24” 144hz Gaming Monitor $499 - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/36322/benq-zowie-xl2430-24in-144hz-led-gaming-monitor/

Any help/information regarding the best path to take with what needs an upgrade and what to buy will be greatly appreciated. The only thing I’m certain on upgrading is the monitor but if it’ll be useless without a system hardware upgrade first I will go for a new CPU/GPU over a new monitor.
Cheers

I’d say save up until you can upgrade the cpu, mobo, and ram AT THE SAME TIME. You upgrade one of them (assuming the cpu is, say, 7th/8th gen) and it wont be compatible. And the cpu upgrade you have in mind won’t make a huge difference. Then the gpu, then psu IF NECESSARY, but I don’t think you need it unless you decide to max the system. The monitor is rarely upgraded, so least priority there. But just wait for pricing to go down, blame crypto miners...

Thanks for the reply, do you have any advice/suggestions for the CPU and MOBO upgrade? I've been out of the "game" so long I honestly don't know where to start

How much would you be willing to spend on the cpu mobo and ram? (You will need new ram as the newer motherboards have ddr4 as a standard)? Your OP said you’d be spending 500 on the cpu alone (which is a lot), but unless you want top of the line stuff...

From a quick search just now on PCCaseGear I've found a bundle deal for an i7-8700k, ASUS Z370-F mobo and Team T-Force Night Hawk 3000MHZ 16gbDDR4 ram for $1049 ([urlExt=http://mysite.com]https://www.pccasegear.com/bundle/1[/urlExt]).
I also know that NewEgg and a couple of Aus PC part stores do CPU and MOBO bundles as well. I like the look of the Z370-F and am willing to save up that amount of money if that is a decent bundle deal.
But if you can suggest anything between $750-$1000AUD that will do the trick that would be helpful as a benchmark to base searching around.
The ram in the above bundle is over $300 so any suggestions that are still decent DDR4 and cheaper would be helpful as well.
I am also going to ask a cousin who is into PC gaming if he has any old Nvidia GPUs and other spare parts lying around he wants to get rid of cheap

I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212X cooler already installed in my current rig, and a quick search of compatible CPU coolers showed this one is compatible which is convenient
Cheers for the link, seems I have quite a bit of thinking over to do as I'm a bit of a sucker for brands and aesthetics due to having a windowed case  and do like the look of the ASUS board a bit more than the ASRock, but at the end of the day that shouldn't matter and I'm sure I can convince myself to go with the ASRock.
Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated
