I'm new to computers and I would to build my first one as a streaming/gaming pc. I have a budget $500-550 and I would like to be able to play games at decent settings (fortnite mainly, may get into others later if you have any suggestions) and stream it at the same time. I understand my budget isn't huge so I wouldn't want too demanding settings, I would only like to comfortably stream 720p30fps with my computer still running smooth. I don't know much other than my research has led me to believe the cheapest CPU for this build would be an i3 8100 or 6100, but again I'm new so I could also be completely wrong. Thank you in advance for your help I truly appreciate any

The game recommends just an AMD Radeon HD 7870. It really doesn't seem like that demanding of a game, so I think he could probably run it at 1080p. Maybe with a few settings turned down. Won't get so lucky with other games unless they are older, but Fortnite probably won't be much of a problem.

Certainly should double-check around on an Intel system too just to keep your options open, but given your budget and the price of GPUs right now, I think the APU will end up being the better option.
You might consider one of AMD's new CPUs with integrated graphics. They aren't all that powerful for gaming, but can play some games reasonably well. Fortnite doesn't have very high system requirements. It even lists the Intel HD Graphics 4000 as the minimum, and that is an integrated GPU from 2012. So this will probably fit your needs.

I think if you were willing to play Fortnite at 720p and stream at 720p, a Ryzen APU would probably handle it as well as anything you could afford with that budget.`

The problem with going with Intel is you'd need to buy a videocard and prices on those are inflated right now. With a Ryzen APU you'd be using integrated graphics, so you'd save some money there. So then what you could do is see what kind of Intel system fits in your budget vs AMD. The Ryzen APUs are about GT 1030 level in performance, to give you a point of reference.
