Hi, I want to build AutoCAD machine. It will be mainly for viewing 2D architectural drawings and sometimes 3D.
So, my first question is should I use Xeon E3 or Core i7-7700 if I m not using the integrated video card? From other threads I saw that AutoCAD is CPU-intensive.

2. SSD - Sandisk SSD Plus 120GB or Solid State Drive (SSD) SILICON POWER S57, 2.5"
3. HDD 1TB WD Blue/ Seagate, not Toshiba
4. 8GB RAM
5. Motherboard ASUS Prime H270-Pro or Prime Z270-P
6. Video Card PNY NVIDIA Quadro P400, 2GB, GDDR5, 64 bit or PNY NVIDIA Quadro P600, 2GB, GDDR5, 64 bit

Thank you.

Our cad computers run a host of software, soldiworks, delcam, and autocad. Most of them have Xeon V3 1225's with 8gb ram and a Quadro 600.

My work computer has an i7 980x with 24GB, & 2 GTX 780's in sli that i run AutoCAD 2018 on some times, the biggest file i could find on the server was a little over 14,000KB and could handle it just fine.

So i would say an i7 7700 would handle it just fine.
