Time for latest version bios to reach vendors shelves

I am planning a Ryzen 5 2400g (APU) build using an Asus B350M-Plus Gaming board. The Asus bios update for Raven Ridge has only been available for about 2-3 weeks. That means all of the boards currently available in stores probably do not support Raven Ridge without a bios update.

pcpartpicker has indicated that the board and the apu are not compatible without the bios update BUT I would need a compatible cpu to do the update. ??? True? I know you can update bios without an OS installed but is there a way to update bios without a cpu? Don't think so but I am no expert. I certainly don't want to buy a cpu just to update a bios and then toss it.

If all the above info is true, does anyone have any idea how long it takes for boards with latest bios to reach store shelves. Is there any way to verify bios version or board version before you buy?

Thanks for the responses I got. AMD's answer to this problem is interesting but not sure I would want to go thru the hassle and wait for their fix.

Even with the quick and good answers, I was waiting to mark this closed in hopes someone had some insight into time from factory to vendor shelves or ways to find bios versions before purchase - - - but ......................

I have been researching more and it seems the new AMD 400 series chips are just around the corner - - chips which promise native APU and faster RAM support. I already have the 2400g (I jumped on it the first day). I think I'll get the RAM next (G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) 14-14-14-34) and wait to see what kind of B450 boards come available. Should be just 6-8 weeks. I can wait.

Thanks to those that took the time to answer.
