1080p vs 1440p on 17.3 inches screen

please help


would you rather play high settings on 1440p
or
1080p on ultra on 17.3 inches screen


i am planning on buying a gaming laptop
leaning towards alienware...for 2000 usd

Well, detail is subjective. With my eyes, on that size of a screen, I'd go higher details, lower resolution. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, and the lower resolution might be a bit easier on the video card, thus, less heat.
