I had an new router installed but I can't connect my printer (HP Officejet 8600) because the setup screen is unreadable and I can't see the setup instructions to put in the IP address etc. Is there a way to connect it to the network without using the screen. I've tried unplugging the printer to see if the network can find it when I plug it back in - nada!

Even if you can't see the display, if the buttons work, you should be able to use the manual to get to the configuration reports and have the printer spit out the configuration data. Then you can configure a laptop and access the printer via the web pages to reset it to DHCP or a different static IP address.

What was the DHCP range on the old router? Set your new router to the same range. If you know what the old IP range was, you could setup a laptop in that range with a switch connecting the laptop and printer. Then ping with a 255 for the last octet of the IP address. The printer will be the only IP address to respond.
