Hey all. So I've been having this problem for a little while now and can't seem to find a fix. My 4gb RX 580 constantly runs at 90 degrees when playing any game. This happens right when I start playing as well. Its not like the temperature gets there over time. I am on the latest driver and have tried setting the fan to 100 (which only lowers the temp by one or two and is very loud). It 's also worth noting that this is base clock speed. Any ideas as to why the card is running at such high temperatures? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

MOBO: MSI B350M Bazooka
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400
RAM: 1x 8gb Potenza 2333
Driver: Adrenalin 18.2.2

Which 580 specifically? Are fans actually running all the time, or are they only coming on when you ramp the speed up?

It's easier to keep a card at lower temps (ie faster fans at say 50'C) than it is to try to bring it back down while still being under load.

The fans are not running at 100 all the time. They ramp up at certain temperaturesa because, when at 100, they are very loud. And as to which 580 I am not sure becuase I did not build this computer my self. It only has stickers on the card that say AMD.

Hey, I have had same issue with my RX 580 8GB Black Edition.

To Fix:
- Open Radeon Settings
  • Open Global Wattman
  • Set Max temp to 80 degrees
  • Set Target temp 75 or lower
  • Set fan controls manually
  • Set fan target to max
  • Set fan min to lowest
  • Click apply in top right

I have found I need to routinely check on these settings to make sure they remain. It's been tough but this maintains the temperature of the GPU generally 1 degree below the max. When gaming, my fans are at about 3200 rpm, not quiet, but doesn't overheat.
