Power supply is a Raidmax RX-1000AE. I have 2 cables plugged into the 6 pin peripheral sata ports. I have 2 extra 6+2 cables labeled PCI-E.

However the pins do not line up on the psu or the card. The 2 pin side has both pegs rounded yet the slots have 1 square and 1 round. The 6 pin only fits in 1 way so i can't move them around.

I have a spare cable with an 8 pin that will connect to the card OR the psu. But the other ends are 6+2 that won't fit.

Can I plug the 6 pin to the Peripheral sata slot and power the card with the 8 pin and 6 pin that fit?

This will potentially power one card, but im trying to sli, so do I need another similar cable? Are there different 8 pin or 6+2 cable configs?

Thanks a ton in advance!

Solution
Be careful, you might be trying auxiliary MB plug instead !!! 6+2 pin labeled PCIe should fit though. Look at the ends on plug and GPU for proper orientation, they are shaped to fit in only one place and only one way. Look for sqaared and oval ends on plugs.
