Looking to build a decent rig that could last 3 to 4 years

I want to build a gaming PC that can run the latest games at 60fps, 1080p. Don't even need the ultra settings. Just near high and could last me a good 3 to 4 years.

So far I've come to the choice of getting a gtx 1060 6gb, i5 8400, 16gb ram, 275 SSD, 1TB.

Any improvements and considerations would really help.

Budget 1.2k usd.

Not sure what you mean by 275 SSD, 1TB.

At any rate, now is a really bad time to buy, due to very high GPU and RAM prices, and adding an SSD only compounds the problem, as they've gone up too. The problem is largely due to a lot of cell phones using DDR4 now, and Samsung's disaster with the One Note. Samsung just built a new memory factory though, so supply will improve.

Cryptocurrency mining is the other cause, but cryptocurrency's value will soon peak, as is always the case with mining boons. The more miners that get involved, the more math problems that are solved, which results in less math problems available, and less value on cryptocurrency, resulting in less people buying cards for mining.

It could be as early as March or April that availability and pricing gets much better. I've already seen availability improve, and even pricing a little bit. I'm saying if you really want this rig to be game worthy for 3-4 years without need for upgrade, don't let anxiety make you settle for much worse spec.

At $1200 you'd normally be able to spec much better CPU and GPU. I also think you should sign up for Newegg's email subscriber promos. They consistently have better RAM and CPU prices, and quite often good deals on GPUs when the mining isn't extreme. They often send out emails 2 or 3 times a day too, so before you click submit payment, check your email to see if you missed something.

I had that happen just yesterday, but Newegg worked with me on canceling the first order and resubmitting it with the better pricing, and still honored that same order and price when the 2nd order was cancelled due to payment being denied when it shouldn't have been (by PayPal or my bank apparently). And the prices on 2 items had gone up by a total of $45. They even waved the $8.50 charge for required signature this time.

I got Corsair Vengenace LPX 3200 2x8GB RAM from them for $170, and a i7-8700k for $335. The CPU price was a 6 hr email promo, and the RAM was a 15% promo coupon discount, plus the RAM was on sale at $200 to begin with. So two things, anxiety and neglect, can kill your chances for best deals.

So if you've got anything at all to game on, be patient and wait for good deals, and don't neglect signing up for email subscriber promo deals.
