i have a fx 6300 going out and just replaced the gpu with a 1060gtx gb6 on a deal i got for it looking to upgrade my pc to better play games with have $900 to get the job done my friend was telling me to go with the i7 builds for longer term used and replace gpu again down the road others have said i5 any builds recommendations would be helpful to me thank you

You have $900 to get the job done, okay. I'd get the i7 8700k and a ASUS Z370 motherboard and a 16 gb kit of ddr4 3000 ram. You'll need to buy a cpu cooler too, i recommend Noctua. You can save the rest of your money or else get a 500gb ssd or something.
