HI!

So I've been getting a lot of DNS problems, for example when having to play games, they often start lagging with ping, as in lag ping spikes...

So I've looked up on my event panel and I see lots, and i mean like 580 lot in 2 months of DNS errors.. I saw league of legends servers not responding and so on...

Does anyone know why does this happen ?
Which would be the right method of fixing this from this site?

You may have a different problem that also affects DNS. DNS does not affect ping times.

DNS only purpose is to translate a string of characters like www.xxx.com to a IP address. After that it uses the IP address to talk to the server it does not use DNS again until it needs a different site. It generally keeps the value it looked up for a short time so it does not need to look it up.

Games in general do not even use DNS. The game login server will tell the client the IP addresses. Even if it did use DNS it only happens at the very start once the connection is open it will not use DNS again until the connection closes.

Oh... :/ Well that's quite a disappointment then... I thought I found the first clue to my problem on why every game has so many ping spikes outta blue..

So do you know why am I getting all the ping spikes so much in a game ?

It's not exactly sites, it's more of when I'm gaming (CS:GO, LoL, any other game like that) on the internet it's mostly okay, and I'm using Ethernet (through cable) I tried doing speed tests, it reaches randomly through the day and night 5mbps to 200mbps and dropping and raising randomly...

When it is just the game lots of things cause issues. You see people fix lag spikes by changing video settings which is strange because the video is not transmitted over the network.

If you have a motherboard with the killer chipset try loading the drivers from the killer site that have all the network accelerator features disabled.

I doubt video settings do anything, I tried reinstalling the game, resetting network adapters, and such...

My MB does have killer, and I have updated the drivers to the newest version at the start of this month but it didn't help..

But I'm not downloading anything, they worked always fine...

It purely a guess, the drivers have lots of bugs. I may have gotten a couple of these threads confused, if you have not already your need to test with another device when this happens to be sure it is only this one pc affected. If it affects multiple devices it could be a issue with your internet connection.
