GTX 1080 Memory Issue

I've got an MSI Geforce GTX 1080 8GB and I've been experiencing some very strange issues lately.
I've run Mass Effect Andromeda hooked up to my 4k TV for a little while now and recently I got Assassins Creed Origins. It ran fine the day I installed it but recently I've been getting a "Direct 3D" issue that basically says "Direct3D could not allocate sufficient memory to complete the call". (I took a quick picture but not too sure how to upload it on here). Along with this I get a couple of other application errors before the display driver switches to Windows Basic Display Driver and then signs me out my WIndows Acc.
This hasn't happened before but I've tried everything from physically taking out the card and putting it back in again, reinstalling drivers and also reinstalling packages like C++ and Direct X among others.
I still can't seem to solve the issue and I'm running out of ideas.
Any advice if anyone has experienced this before?
Specs:

Samsung 4k TV/ LG 23" HD monitor
Core 15-7600k @ 3.8GHZ (4 cores)
Gigabyte Z270P-D3 Motherboard
8192MB RAM
Corsair 1000W PSU

(please ask for anything else I'll be happy to provide anything that can contribute towards a solution but I'm new here so please bear with me if I take a while to get back to you).
Thanks!

Temp and cooling seem to be normal still
Will try other driver versions and have flagged this with Nvidia as well but they aren’t the most helpful. Windows Defender hasn’t found anything to suggest malware on my pc. Will let you know how I get on with drivers.

Just to let everyone know in case this happens again, I've managed to fix my issue (for now)
I had the same one thing causing an issue before I reinstalled a fresh version of Windows - Windows update: KB4074588
Not too sure why (if anyone has any advice on this I would appreciate it). The old problem that was caused by a Windows update meant that I got application errors every so often on my computer for anything I wanted to open. It was very odd hence why I did a clean reinstall of Windows. No problems so far with any of the other updates to this point.

Will update this post if the problem re-occurs but for now everything is ok so long as this pesky update doesn't automagically install itself/ I find out what the overall issue is.
