Hello!

I'm in a bit of a bind. But i'm sure you guys get this all the time.

My computer of 9 years which i built with my friends (well they told me what I should get and I just built it with their supervision) is showing its age and the optical drive is failing. I bought an Asus drive on line and decided to try to install it myself. Those friends no longer live near me so I can't ask for their help.

I did and it was working. I even burned a CD and was able to listen to it! So I turned off the computer, came back and hour later and it started it up as normal. Gave me the option to go into BIOS in the beginning (like it always does) and then it went to a black screen saying "insert boot disk". I put in the DVD disc that came with the ASUS drive but nothing. I'm stuck, and I don't know what happened between that first successful attempt and now this.

I am linking a YT video hopefully making it a little clearer as to what I am talking about. At this point, I don't even care about the drive working, I just hope I didn't lose any data on my hard drive (pictures, movies, etc) -_-.

Thank you

Ok. Your boot sequence is no longer showing your hard drive. Only shows the optical drive. The hard drive is not showing as being connected at all to any SATA or PATA ports. Can you check al the cables going from hard drive to motherboard and power supply. Maybe got knocked loose.

The only boot options shown are DVD drive and USB basically. This is causing your boot error, as no bootable operating system is being found or bootable media to proceed startup.

thanks for the quick response!

I accessed the BIOS and took a bunch of pictures. NOt sure if the hard drive is in there. Unfortunately i dont have full system specs because i can't access the computer. in the beginning of turning it on, I am also able to access something called POST but have no idea what that is. Here is a link to the pics of the BIOS
