:( Problem after problem with my MSI Z170A Tomahawk Mobo :(

I'm building a mining rig with following components:

MSI Z170A Tomahawk Motherboard
Intel Pentium G4400 (Skylake LGA1151) Processor
2x 4GB (8GB) Crucial DDR4 DIMM RAM Memory
Powered Risers for my graphics cards
2x R9 290 Graphics Cards
2x R9 290X Graphics Cards
1x Corsair HX1000 PSU
1x Corsair RM1000 PSU

No hard drive. Booting perfectmine.io or simplemining.net operating systems from USB image. They are based on Ubuntu.

I got the rig working with 1 GPU no problems, it mined for 24hours without fault, very nice and stable. I added a second GPU and it was a little buggy, sometimes not booting the OS.. sometimes the monitor wouldn't power up. - At this point I had only 1 PSU.

3 + 4 GPU's connected and there was no way of booting the OS, it was almost always crashing and I determined it was the BIOS being out of date (not supporting multiple graphics cards) and also lack of power from 1 PSU.

Today I went out and purchased myself an additional USB to download the latest BIOS for update and also a 2nd 1000watt PSU. So now I'm running on 2000watt!

After a few problems I managed to hard reset the CMOS and then update the BIOS without error. It updated and I then rebooted and went into BIOS to confirm the changes - they were perfect.

Soon as I tried to boot into an OS, the screen would become puzzled... just lots of scattered coloured cubes everywhere on the screen but eventually it would then show some Linux commands to show it is booting up.

I checked remote access and it said the rig was now online, so even though I couldn't really see anything from the monitor connected to the rig - I knew it was online and communicating... but then it froze!

I've since rolled back the BIOS update to two earlier verisions... trying each one, one at a time and they are all giving me the same issue right now:

I can't get the rig to boot into the operating system anymore... the screen just goes blank and it will stay blank hours if I leave it (I left it 2 hours)... the monitor light is green to show it's on but blank screen. if i switch off power to the mobo and reboot it, then the screen will not come back on at all UNLESS I do a hard reset of CMOS.

Do a hard reset of CMOS... try again... same issue... reboot... and screen won't come back on unless I hard reset CMOS settings again.

I've tried both simplemining OS and perfectmine OS (both were working perfectly with 1 GPU) and also worked with 2 GPU most of the time. - Now I can't even get it to load with 1 or even without any GPU's... it just won't load anymore.

I've reflashed the OS images, I even purchased a new USB in case that was faulty.

I'm so drained by these issues.

Please can someone assist me with getting the system online, I don't know what else to try.

Managed to get screen running again...
changed primary boot graphics device from PEG0 > IDG.

Now can see the boot up from onboard graphics output.

Can anyone assist me further?

The OS does not boot anymore but did before bios update. I’ve reflashed OS image makes no difference

For anyone that experiences this issue.

Throw away the molex > sata cables that power your gpu risers and power them with molex cables from the psu directly to the riser board!!

The molex > sata cannot carry the power and that was causing me heaps of problems.

I can now boot into the OS with all 4 GPUs connected, using 2x 1000watt power supply units.
