Hello there,

I am putting together my first build and know almost nothing about computers, especially power supplys. If I wanted to put together a $500-550 macine, what psu would I need for this setup? Please don't pick something that will not give enough power to the components.

On another note, I plan to use this PC primarily for Second Life, Overwatch, Path of Exile, Minecraft and emulators. Will this PC be able to handle it? I'm not the type that needs to play on max settings.

The psu you need is gated by the graphics card.
Your GTX1050 will run on slot power only, and a 300w psu would be sufficient.
But, your cpu can support a much stronger graphics card so I would recommend something more like 450w which can run a card as good as a GTX1060.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

More important is the quality of the PSU.
Try to buy a tier 1 or 2 unit from a list such as this:

I recommend the Seasonic focus 450w unit.

It is highly rated, 7 year...

As far as your system you can do a bit better for the price, the G4560 performs identical to the 6100 for much less, that savings can be put into a better GPU.

Hi there, the psu suggested above is a good choice, but may i say you forgot a wireless pci adapter. therefore if you didn't have one you would need to be using a ethernet cable connection, This is okay if you are able to plug your pc into your router, but say your router is downstairs and your pc is upstairs there will be an issue. I can suggest one for you? Most are good and fair inexpensive around $18
