Hello All,

I'm currently looking for components to build a PC for myself. It would be used mainly to run Virtual Machines ( 3-5 at a time) and some occassional gaming apart from the regular HD video streaming, multi tabbed web browsing (15-20 tabs open). I'm not looking for ultra graphic settings in the latest game titles, but I like the games like Far Cry3, GTA 4 to be playable on FHD resolution at 40-50 FPS. Since the motherboard prices for intel 8 Gen CPUs are too high, I would like to go with the AMD Ryzen CPUs. I've shortlisted 1300x, 1400 and 1600. But can't really decide among them for my work load.

For SSD, is M.2 one really worth the price? Or should I go with the normal SATA 120 GB SSD or OS?

My current PC is running with Phenom 2 1090T CPU and it's been close to 8 yrs and this is still enough for most of my work. So I'm looking for a PC build that would last me another 7-8 yrs from now. My budget is 40-45,000 INR (roughly = 650 USD) Kindly suggest.

Also, please suggest a good graphic card and motherboard for the build that fits my budget.

Thanks in advance!

You should follow through this thread and update this thread with the necessary information.

Off the top of my head, you're going to have a hard time fitting a good GPU within that system since the cost of memory and the GPU are absurdly high. The GPU can take up to a third of your budget.

You're located in India, which makes the currency conversion a mess of things. Why? Since this list comprosies of parts sourced from US locations,

and without an SSD, it comes to about 650USD. To add to the woes, the availability of parts is limited when you move to sites off India.

Hi Lutfij,

Thanks for the reply. I've updated the details as per the template. As per the CPU that you've suggested to go with Ryzen 1200, will it be future proof for around 7 yrs for my requirements?

Approximate Purchase Date: In a month, probably by mid march

Budget Range: 650-700 USD (40-45,000 INR)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Running Virtual Machines, 4k video streaming, occassional gaming, Development (will use Visual Studio, Eclipse kind of IDEs), internet browsing, occasional video conversion (for mobile devices)

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: As of now, I'll go with 8GB RAM. But will upgrade this to 32 GB afterwards (maybe after 4-5 months)

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon.in ( offline stores also)

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India

Parts Preferences: CPU - AMD (due to better value for price. Intel is also welcome my requirements and budget get satisfied :D ), Rest no preferences

Overclocking: Maybe (But not too high)

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 (Dual monitor). Might get a 2k resolution one in future

Additional Comments:
For virtualization, I'll be using VMware workstation with 3-5 VMs running in parallel.
For gaming, I like GTA 4 and Far Cry 3 very much. I'll get a few racing or fighting game titles like MK 10, Street fighter, NFS MW 2 etc. So playing such games in FHD resolution with some mid - high settings getting 40 FPS on average should be sufficient.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: : I'm moving my current PC to my parents house. This new one would be my primary PC.

Thanks in advance!
