If I upgraded to the AM4 platform with the cheapest Ryzen 3 and only 8GB of DDR4 but kept my R9 390 8GB would I see any performance gains or losses? The idea is to get more RAM and/or better CPU, discrete GPU when prices come down and to distribute the cost of keeping my setup relevant.
upgrade for fx 6300 16GB DDR3 RAM and r9 390 to Ryzen 3 2200G 2x4GB DDR4 R9390, is it worth it?

Thank you Zerk2012 for the quick answer. From what I understand I would just be using the CPU side of the die and the integrated GPU would be disabled. Could I just update the BIOS before it boots into Windows and then OC the CPU to effectively get the same performance at the 99$ price point? Or is it not possible to update the BIOS without an already supported AM4 CPU?
