Is my ssd broken?

About a month ago I purchased an ssd to expand my limited storage on my pc. Just yesterday I was downloading something and I suddenly got a disk write error and to fix it I tried restarting my computer. To my surprise when I got back to my computer my ssd wasn't showing up as an option to download on. So I have now spent some time looking into it and even though my pc knows it's there it does not show it is an option anywhere else. The only thing confirming it is there is it showing up as being a usb device that is plugged in.

So the SSD is attached as an external USB drive? And it does not appear in disk management?

The good news is that is unlikely to be broken, just corrupted by a restart during a write -- that is a killer for USB device boot records.

Please expand on your question if you have any other specific requirements, like what you actually need to do now. You will need to provide a bit more detail -- motherboard model, OS, and drives attached -- including which one you want to be the OS drive (cannot be an external drive).

Note: we do not answer individual emails.
