Toshiba harddrive not working correctly want to copy files to a new one

I just got a brand new hard drive from my local store. Because my old hard drive kept making this weird noise like the motor spun up and my hdd just fell off and my laptop doesn't detect the HDD.
I wanted to clone my disk (From my broken TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100 to my SAMSUNG ST1000LM024 both are 1TB and show up as 931GB) But I cloud not because my old Toshiba kept starting and quitting I want to get my files back from my old Toshiba drive so I can copy it to my samsung HDD but only my new HDD shows up my old one doesn't and keeps falling off

If the old drive is "broken", as in "no longer functional" a clone or even just copying files from it is unlikely to work.

How are you trying to connect this old probably broken drive?
Connect to what...a desktop or laptop?

I took apart my drive (Sony hard drive 1TB) and I replaced the hard drive. I then connected my old hard drive to a chip who coverts SATA-USB so I use 2 chips from hard drives to read them
