So, because of the GPU prices right now, i was thinking to get the Ryzen APU (R5 2400g) and play games with the apu for now and then, when the GPU price comes down I will put an external GPU. is that a good idea? Will i lose performance if I add an external GPU?

Solution
If the discrete graphics card you add is worse than the integrated graphics then it's possible to lose performance.

But Raven Ridge to game while waiting for graphics card prices to go back to normal is an option. AAA games will still be a struggle if I recall benchmarks correctly, so it will depend what games you plan to play and your expectations of them.

Make sure you get some fast RAM though for improved performance, though RAM itself is also subject to high prices.
