Keep my old CPU or upgrade?

So right now I have a AMD Phenom ii x6 1090t six core processor paired up with a gtx 960. I’m wondering if I should get the i3 8350k. I’m keeping my graphic card BTW. I’m thinking I should upgrade because my current cpu is pretty weak and can’t render in games.

that i3 would give you around double the performance and is definitely enough for the 960. keep in mind you need new ram, a new motherboard and most likely a new operating system licence. i'd very strongly consider spending the extra $50 and getting an i5-8600k. you will be almost completely rebuilding the machine, so get something that will last longer.

If it can't run the games you want at the speed you want, then yes, you should upgrade.

Would be a nice upgrade. That GTX 960 should be around the performance of a GTX 1050 or 1050ti. Depending on budget, you might also look at the AMD ryzen CPUs. They are much more better performers than the FX chips were.
