i am building a hackintosh for video rendering, photoshop and general cpu-strenuous tasks, i have all the parts besides the cpu and motherboard, i am on a tight budget and would like to keep the price to a minimum so lga 2011 and 1366 boards are ruled out. it needs to support ddr3 too, are there any good cpu motherboard combos that would work well? thanks

Cpu still plays a large role and will still need to be good. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Premiere-Pro-CC-2017-1-2-CPU-Performance-Core-i7-8700K-i5-8600K-i3-8350K-1047/ Also cpu tasks are still cpu tasks so depends more on what exactly you're doing if a gpu can even be used at all. You are better off with an i series than core 2. A 760 should be plenty and would be balanced with the budget I think you are looking at. Budget is still unknown. Most people don't use gpus for video rendering as the quality isn't as good. Photoshop doesn't care much about gpu.

that would be my option if i could get hold of 16gb ddr4 for less than a decent 1366 mobo, also id rather go intel on this one because almost all macs use intel cpus and ill probably come across less probelms setting up using one, thatnks for the suggestion anyway

is it really much better? i have a gtx 760 lying around which i was going to use, i also have a core 2 quad and 8gb of ram but i thought they would be too underpowered, would they work as good or am i better off buying an old i5 or something?
