I just cant make up my mind this has been sitting in the back of my head for a few weeks now with income tax around the corner I want to upgrade something and I know this is more of ones opinion then anything but which would you prefer. currently I have a Ryzen 5 1400 and my monitor is a HP 25es 60hz 1080 7ms. should I get the ASUS Full HD 1080p 144Hz 1ms with free sync and wait for Ryzens 2nd gen or pick up a first gen Ryzen 1700X cheap. also my GPU is a RX580 if that helps at all with deciding.

I would say the monitor. I actually enjoy my 1080p 144Hz monitor, but only after getting a 4K 60Hz monitor was I actually able to see how much better it was than 60Hz.
No sense in pushing higher framerates with a 1700X if you're still on a 60Hz monitor.
