Removing OS off a HDD

I am upgrading to a new computer. I am getting a new SSD to support windows 10. My current HDD has windows 7 but instead of buying a new HDD I want to use this one. I'm not sure how to uninstall windows 7 off the the HDD and also keep the rest of the Data on it. Is it possible, or should I just make a back up and reformat the Hard Drive?

Solution

You should just copy your personal data off that drive, and format the whole thing.
Delete all partitions, and create one large blank space.

Much easier than trying to work around removing 'just the OS'.
