Please don't create multiple threads when it's based on the same topic. Makes it harder for the community to offer a consistent suggestion on your situation.

Per this article, your system can accept a maximum of 8GB's of DDR2 ram. You will need to look at 2x4GB DDR2-800MHz sticks if you want to max out the ram on your two slots. Pertaining to your PSU being 10 years old, it's not fit for any form of computing and is more of a health hazard at this point of time. Furthermore, you won't be able to drop in the GT1030 since all cards after the introduction of the GTX1000 series from Nvidia will not run on a system with an incompatible BIOS environment, i.e it will need a UEFI BIOS environment. Judging how old your platform is, no matter...

What processor do you currently work off of? How old is your PSU? I'm skeptical about the rev of the PCI e x16 slot...due to the platform, I'm assuming it's 1.1a and not 1.1b. In retrospect, you shouldn't be investing anymore money on that platform.

Judging how old your platform is, no matter what BIOS update you perform you're yet lacking UEFI BIOS support.

In your motherboard manual, turn to page 3, and you'll see this:
MSI Reminds You...
K9N6SGM-V does not support ATI X550, X700, X800, X850 and X1800XL series graphic cards
Which furthers my speculation that it's a moot point upgrading on that platform.
