I will be getting a Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce OC. Should I be getting a 3GB or a 6GB one? There's about a $100 difference between the two where I live. Also, please do note that I have a 900p monitor which I will not be upgrading anytime soon and will be gaming on 1600x900 only. Any help would me much appreciated, thanks!

The difference is more than just the vram.
The 6gb version has more CUDA cores than the 3gb version.

How important is that $100 to you?
My experience is that I never regret spending more for the best.
I often have regrets if I buy based on budget.

I would say get neither, because (depending on where you live) for a little more than +100 dollars, you can get a used GTX 1070 which is clearly superior to a GTX 1060, IF you can find an ad for that.
However, prices are generally so bad at the moment I dont even want to recommend anything.

In any case, of those 2 options, I'd say get the 3GB one, keep it for a while, enjoy it, and then sell it and get a newer generation card (GTX 2070 or something), or something from AMD when the new gen cards are released sometime in 2018.
I definitely wouldnt spend the extra 100 bucks for a 1060 6GB.

What's their individual prices? The 3GB model was initially at $199 and the 6GB was at around $259+, At those price points the 6GB is a pretty easy decision. https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/2604-gtx-1060-3gb-vs-6gb-benchmark-review/page-5 is but one perspective. The way prices are we need to reexamine worth. Will the prices fall eventually or has a new bar been set? Because it can offer a significant performance boost in some games I'd go for it but if it was like $400 I could wait and see.

Well, I'm already exceeding my budget so pretty important. I'll try my best to go for it though.

Yes but you see, I'm in India where good used parts at the right price are pretty darn hard to find. Heck, the prices are absolutely ridiculous here, I'm paying like $480 for a damn 1060 lol. I'd probably get the 6Gb and keep it for a while till I can upgrade because of the extra cuda cores.

Yes, I'm in India and the prices here are insane, $480 for the 3GB and about $589 for the 6GB  . Plus the used market here is so convoluted, it's sheer luck you'd even find something that works let alone for the right price xD. And its been like this for a while now, I don't think they're gonna fall anytime soon. So do you still think 6GB is the way to go?

No.

~600 dollars for a gtx 1060 6GB is like you are literally getting robbed.
I dont know what you can do, but this price is beyond any reasonable consideration.

I will almost always be playing only fast action games on the lines of Battlefield, Call of Duty and Crysis. Maybe a tiny lil Simcity on rare occasions. So the 6GB it is?

I think you answered your own question. :)
