Something keeps frying my motherboards

Ok so to start out let me explain what happened to the first Mobo that I got. This is all being done on the MSI X370 Gaming Plus Mobo. I bought a new power supply (thermaltake toughpower grand RGB 750w.) when I first installed it in my build with aftermarket cables, when I flipped the switch on the back and “something” instantly killed my Mobo. The only thing it would do is make a clicking sound through my speakers. Won’t power on, no lights no anything. So I figured it was the cables. So I RMA the board and get another one. Hook everything up with the factory cables this time and again the same exact thing. Onto my 3rd Mobo. This time I hook everything up outside of the case. Factory cables, everything is hooked up correctly I checked and double checked. Hey the power switch and this time absolutely nothing. Not even any clicking sounds or anything???? WTF is going on here? Surely I’m not just getting bad mobos from the supplier. I’m at a loss of words really with what is happening. Can the power supply be bad from the factory and be giving too much power to the Mobo right off the bat or something?? Please help!!

Reread your op again, i missed the part where you used aftermarket cables.

Exactly what cables did you change?

If you search, are modular cables interchangeable you'll find its a no and a risk. The cables need to be from the exact model psu or made to spec as the wiring is often different and many damaged components due to this non standard.
That would be rather rare thing, but I guess it is possible that PSU could be bad and fry your mobos. Did you made a paperclip test on PSU? Or it could be something about your connections, that you repeat each time not knowing it is wrong. In any case, since 3rd mobo did not even try to start, I would test it with another PSU. Although you can't forget that it could be just DoA motherboard that last one.

I did do the paper clip test and the power supply comes right on and runs fine. It also powers my other pc that I use when this one is down and out with no problems

***Update*** motherboard powers on with 24 and 8 pin plugged in but when I install the cpu and try to power on, nothing?? Fried cpu? Had some thermal paste on a couple pins so I cleaned those off and still nothing.

I am no longer using the aftermarket cables, no I believe it is something to do with the cpu. The motherboard will power on with everything plugged in except the cpu. But when I put the cpu in the socket and try to power on there is absolutely nothing

Paste on pins would not prevent start, though it could prevent successful boot. However, faulty (or fried) CPU could be causing short that prevents start. In light of what you found, trying another CPU should be next step.

Damage may have already been done but luck the motherboard survived this time. As said, trying another cpu would be your next step.

In regards to your thermal compound have a read of it's description. Like the noctua nh1 paste, it's not conductive. So find out if the paste you used is or not.
