I think my friend lying to me. She says that I need 16gb of ram because I’m using an 8gb gtx 1070ti. Apparently it will put pressure on the pc. So, is this true?

Solution
I suggest these changes and investing into the higher speed RAM because Ryzen likes it a lot. Also, for the same price combined for CPU+Mobo you get Ryzen which is overclockable AND has a future when it comes to upgrading the CPU onto the chipset whereas Intel the only upgrade option you have is to buy the better versions of that genration. You won't need to get a new mobo when Ryzen 2 comes out.

So this one is a little higher in price because I chose better RAM and a better case for you that brought the cost up just a little.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($238.95 @ shopRBC)
Motherboard: MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4...

While you may need 16gb of ram, it isn't because of your 1070ti. The ram on it is totally separate from your system memory and has nothing to do with it.

No. System RAM won't make much of a difference unless you are running on 4GB then yeah, you should at least upgrade to 8GB. But the newer more demanding AAA games that are coming out are starting to require 6GB at minimum and that will only go up as time goes on. So investing now into 16GB before RAM prices go even higher would be a smart idea. Always go for a kit running dual channel. Never use single stick as you are not doing yourself any favors that way.

If you would like recommendations for RAM you should provide us with your motherboard make and model as well as what generation we are looking at (DDR3 or DDR4)

Not all RAM overclocks well or at all even.
Also, show me where Ryzen 1800X is worse in gaming than the 8400? Maybe at stock speeds but you can overclock all Ryzen CPU's. you can't overclock the 8400.

Either you are saying that the case coming with one fan is somehow related to overclocking or this is a statement followed by a separate question? I'm going to assume the latter and to answer the overclock question yes you can. I say so in my above answer. As for the case coming with only one fan you can get another one. You can go back to the Deepcool case if you want, but be prepared to make some sacrifices in quality here and there.

case fans only have to do with overall air flow in the case. this can affect cooling potential with your CPU cooler but not by a huge margin. You can definitely get more fans to put in your case though for more airflow. So no not really. Overclocking is hindered most by temps which is governed by the type of cooling you have on your CPU because the higher you overclock the more voltage you need to give the CPU to do so and this results in higher temperatures which requires a better cooler to keep in check. For a standard overclock of around 4.0 to 4.4Ghz you should be able to achieve this with the stock wraith cooler that comes with the CPU with ok temps. But typically for anything higher than about 4.2Ghz you would want a better cooler. To top this all off, higher clocked RAM will result in better overclock ability when on Ryzen so that is why I recommended the better RAM.

Be sure to do your research online about overclocking with Ryzen if you don't know what you are doing. You can watch videos on YouTube by LinusTechTips, Jayz2cents, BitWit and PaulsHardware along with a couple of others for videos on how to properly do it.

Alternatively, if you haven't purchased anything for this PC yet you can check out NZXT BLD for a "Pre Built" system but I wouldn't really consider it the same as other prebuilts since you are picking the different parts that they offer (which is a decent selection as of right now) and they have professionals put it together for you all at MSRP prices with a $100 fee that goes to the building of the system as well as full warranty support for all of the parts where you can just go through them for the warranty on all of the components instead of going to the different manufacturers for all of your warranties. Just pick three games that you would play on the system, pick your budget, choose your preference for CPU (I recommend picking AMD) then click on the configure button and change things around to your liking for the overall price.
