I have a MSI x99s sli plus board. It has quantity of pci E 16 X 16 X 8 slots. For fun I am looking for a board that has the room to fit (3) MSI Radeon R9 290X water block cards. I would like to run them all in pci e 16 X 16 X 16. Does anyone know of a board. I have a cpu i7 5930K cpu. But it only has 40 lanes. I believe the 16 x 16 x 8 would run the same as the 16 x 16 x 16 with this cpu though. What do you guys think. If I did find a chip that supported enough lanes, would that improve the performance? This is just for gaming and the fun of learning.

You wont see any performance increase using x16 x16 x16 vs x16 x16 x8, not only is it waste of money to change motherboards, its pointless as well.
It has no impact on gaming, and you dont need to waste money to learn things like that.

I'm looking up the details now. Having some difficulties finding good specs so far. I'm sure I will find it. I need to confirm three cards will fit and all three slots will run at 16 all at the same time. All the boards I have found run 16 x 16 x 8 if three cards are installed at the same time.

Thanks for posting this. :)
