Good Morning All!

I am having an issue with a EVGA GTX 950 SC+. I was given the card from my friend who says the card worked the last time he used it, before he upgraded to the 1050ti. When the computer boots it does not display any image to the monitor and the VGA motherboard light is solid. I never even get the ASUS BIOS screen. The GPU fans will very briefly kind of jerk at start up and then after a few minutes of the blank screen will spin like you would normally expect.

Things I've treid:
-Uninstalling all GPU drivers, as well as installing EVGA's drivers.
-Installing 950 in the x8 slot instead of the primary x16 slot
-New 750W Corsair PSU (also "new" card uses 1x 6-Pin and old card uses 2x 6-Pin) so power isn't an issue.
-Change Motherboard setting for "primary GPU"
-Change Motherboard setting for Legacy or EFI boot rom.
-Clear CMOS
-Swap New Motherboard battery (as this is an old motherboard)
-Connecting the displays to both the 950 itself as well as the onboard DVI/HDMI inputs
-Connecting and old 19" Samsung TV (720P) via HDMI both the motherboard and the GPU when it's installed
-Read all of the previous forums talking about similar issues.

When the old Gainward GTX 560 1GB is re-installed, everything is back to normal and functions perfectly.

Is it possible that the "new to me" GPU is in fact dead? Also, could the fact that my OS is still on the old MBR (Legacy) setup prevent the computer from POSTing with the new GPU installed?

I'm stumped.

Build:
i5-3570
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 (BIOS v3802)
8GB Corsair RAM
Samsung 840 PRO 256GB (Boot Drive)
Samsung 850 EVO 1TB (Storage/Game Drive)
Toshiba 1TB HDD 7200RPM (Backup Drive)
Windows 10 64 bit (Legacy - MBR)AC
650 Watt Cooler Master PSU

Thanks!

Solution
First of all, yes the GPU May be dead.
Also, have you tried different port on the card ? Maybe try connecting to DP, and if you don’t have DP port on your screen try with HDMI to DP adapter or try connecting to the DVI port.

I have already tried the HDMI port as well as the DVI port on the GPU as both of my monitors use DVI (one is via a HDMI to DVI adapter), but I will try a DP to DVI adapter this evening.

I tried the Display port to DVI adapter, and still nothing. To isolate the card, I borrowed a GTX 960 from a friend, and it booted up no problem. I am now 99% confident that the EVGA GTX 950 is DOA.

This may sound stupid, but how can I flash the bios of the card if I can't even get the computer to boot with the card inserted?
