Sooo... recently with my secondary build i've been having issue where when i plugged in a usb device the system would shut down then start up again... and this morning when i went to power the system on the system would at all respond to me pressing the power button, nor did it respond to me shorting the pins on the motherboard. I'm no expert on these kind of things, but i'm starting to suspect that my powersupply has kicked the bucket. Any thoughts? I apreciate any answeres. Thank you

Yes... i would've done that if i acctually had an extra powersupply :C and i would imagine that if it was the motherbiard there would atleast be like a split second of power in the system.

"if it was the motherbiard there would atleast be like a split second of power in the system. " not necessarily. Try reconnecting all power leads to MB, could be a loose socket somewhere. If you have a voltmeter, check voltage at Violet and any black wire in 29/24pin main connector to MB, should have 5v when PSU is plugged in and turned on.

Sooo... i've figured out the cause of the problem (somewhat). I've had 2 computers plugged into the wall socket where my pc was plugged in and now neuther of them will power on. Probably meaning that that socket somehow has sent way too high voltage into both the computers. My question now is though, since that is most likely the case, will all my components have suffered or has it just killed the powersupply/ies

Are you in some dual voltage country ? Otherwise no idea how is possible to get wrong voltage thru socket. PSUs without voltage switch at back should be good for voltages from 110 - 250v. and switch automatically between them.
Modern PSUs have good overvoltage control so would have to receive quite a shock to let other components burn out. All you can do is to try with a known good PSU in a known proper wall socket voltages.

I live in norway (230v). And i only have one other power supply. That is the one in my main computer. Which i'm not interested in oulling apart, i just spoke with the website i bought the psu from and i had 3 years insurance, but it didn't cover overvoltage. So I'm shit outta luck... i'll just have to spend $40 on a new powersupply. Thak god it wasn't ram or the gpu though :) the prices for those nowadays... woof

I'm still not sure how you could get too high voltage from wall plug, maybe you should let a professional electrician check electrical installations in your dwelling.
European standards are 380v with any 2 phases (out of 3) and 220- 230v between any phase and neutral or ground (earth).

I'm not too sure either how that could happen, but it is a bit too suspicious how two computers died in the same wall socket only a day after another... I'm definately going to get it checked.

Edit: i pulled my HDD out of the comouter and its 100% working, should i assume then that other components are undamaged too or is there still a chance that they died?
