Hello,

So, a few weeks ago my PC randomly shut off on me while I was using it. Now my PC doesn't power on at all. The only time it kinda powers on is when I unplug it for a few seconds, and the plug it back in. But it only powers the fans and the rgb for a split second before shutting off again. Again, this happens in a split second. It doesn’t post or make any beep sounds.

I tried the usual process of elimination, trying to identify which component failed. However, no matter what I did, the PC wouldn't properly power on.

This lead me to believe that it was either the CPU or the Motherboard that failed. I was planning to replace both of these this week, however I'm starting to think that it might be my PSU.

I tried manually powering on my PSU by connecting the green cable to a black cable with a random wire, and I didn't hear or see any fans turning on.

I have a Cooler Master rs-750-amaa-g1, which makes me more worried because I've seen a number of people complain about Cooler Master PSUs, especially the cheap affordable ones.

So I'm not sure what to do. Am I correct for assuming that my PSU is most likely the fault?

Edit: And Yes, I've tried resetting the CMOS.

My Specs:

CPU: AMD FX8350
Motherboard: Asrock 970 extreme3
Ram: 12GB G.SKILL Ripjaws
SSD/HDD: 1TB Western Digital Drive
GPU: r9 280x
PSU: Cooler Master rs-750-amaa-g1
OS: Windows 7

Solution
1. Volt meter on the PSU motherboard connections to see if your getting power.

2. Disconnect everything you don't need to get a PC to post check, memory, drive even the GPU, if the motherboard works, it will give error beeps.

3. Remove cmos battery or short the reset pins for 15mins to ensure any BIOS settings have been lost and force it back to factory defaults.

4. Add single stick of memory, then GPU and see if you get display and failed boot.

5. Add things back a piece at a time until you find a fault.

For the time being, it's best to rule out everything else before we point a finger. You forgot to pass on your full system's specs(seeing that this is a troubleshooting thread). Please list them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU: Cooler Master V750 Semi-Modular
Chassis:
OS:

When you speak of randomly shutting off on you, were you taxing the system or were you simply browsing the web?
