Price hikes on GTX 1050's?

Hello all,

I have an old but still useful XPS8700 with an equally old, but less useful, GTX 550Ti.

I started looking to upgrade about 6 months ago and saw a bunch of nice little GTX1050's that drew power from the motherboard, were really small and seemed to totally outperform older cards - these were coming in at around 100-120 GBP.

Going back to this now after a pause of a few months, seems like these are all up by 50%? I am looking at the Ti/4GB models from Zotac, Palit , the usual suspects...

Is it just me, or has there been a hike in prices? Maybe my memory is failing me and I was actually looking at the 2G variety before?

Anyway, any particular recommendations for a candidate 1050Ti and is it deffo worth the extra over a 2G model for a beast as old as the 8700 (16GB/i7-4790@3.6GHz)?

cheers!

Solution
Yes, most video card prices have been going up in price. I bought a 1050Ti for about $170 for a friend a few months ago, that same model is $220 now.

Do a web search about currency mining and video card prices.
