Did I shock my GPU?

Around 1-2 months ago, I decided to clean my PC. I unplugged it, opened it up, and cleaned it with compressed air. Now I KNOW that your not suppose to clean it with a cloth, so I don't know why I did. All I did was take a cloth and wipe down my PSU shroud and the backplate of my GPU. Everything is working fine. Would I have known if I shocked a component? Is it very likely? One thing I did notice is that now, I get a few small artifacts after each time I update my AMD drivers. I have an RX 480. These artifacts quickly disappear and usually stop after 20 minutes or so. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

okay, so is it just an issue that you get artefacts after the GPU driver install? And only for a limited time. Or is it every time you boot or play games or do anything for that matter on screen?

If it's the former, it's prob just the driver having to boot once or twice before it settles. I've experienced things like that, although not with a GPU.
If it's the latter, then there maybe an issue with the card.

As yeti yeti said, as long as it wasn't a wet cloth, thats a good things. But similarly depending on the cloth, it could have static which may have affected something. It also could be what you wiped with the cloth, and if you maybe dislodged a component on the GPU back plate.

If it doesn't affect performance, and is isolate to...

If it doesn't affect performance, and is isolate to only a GPU driver install, then I wouldn't worry to much. Just keep an eye on it.

Finally, it might just be worth swapping out cables (HDMI, DP, DVI or whatever) to make sure it's not a faulty one.

well, not sure about that wet cloth bit. That would not be advisable under any circumstance. Specially if booting up soon after.

But I agree that it may be nothing to worry about, providing the issue is only isolated after a driver install. If it was more regular, and specifically after this 'cleaning' occurred, then something 'may' have happened.

It was a dry cloth, and yes the artifacts only appear for a short time after Driver updates. But since I have a backplate, there aren't really any components that are exposed.

Haven't noticed any issues, ran some tests and everything seems to be the same. And no, the cloth was not wet.
