i7-8700 bottlenecking GTX 1060? Is this an issue for gaming?

Hello, I am looking to build a gaming PC around the GTX 1060 6GB GPU. I am considering using the new Intel i7-8700 as my CPU, but some people are saying it may cause bottleneck or lag of some sort. Will this cause me an issue while gaming? If so, can someone recommend me a different CPU. Thanks

Solution
Whoever is saying your configuration is getting bottlenecked is completely wrong, there is absolutely no way a 8700 can bottleneck a gtx 1060. If you do see bottlenecking, then it means the game your playing is unoptimized somewhere.

One of the best gaming CPUs is never going to bottleneck a midrange GPU

Thanks for the clarification. So if I use this setup with a 144hz monitor, do you think i can reach 144fps?

i7-8700 3.2GHZ
MSI GeForce 1060 Gaming X
16GB DDR4 3000MHZ RAM (2x8gb)
650W Power supply

Btw the monitor is not gsync supported.

Not at all. The processor gives and the graphics card takes. The graphics card determines the maximum possible demand, and the processor just needs to supply that.

FPS drops only happen when
A) The game and its settings are too big for the graphics card anyway, or
B) The processor isn't good enough, and can't provide instructions to the graphics card fast enough.

Lag is what happens when your internet is too slow.

1. No.
2. Depends on the game and your internet connection. And because of this, do not expect a constant 144fps in everything. Drops will happen here and there.

Generally speaking you're absolutely fine with that processor. The 8700 is excellent and almost as good as the top gaming CPU the 8700K. You can't do much better with the CPU right now than the 8700 although the K version is better. Why is it better? It can overclock to 5GHz or higher on all 6 cores. If you don't want to fool around with overclocking then the 8700 is a solid option. The GPU on the other hand you could do better with. It's the graphics card that's going to hold you back. So you will be able to lower graphics settings and get a higher frame rate. You will have to decide whether you want high fps or better visual quality when you play.

8700 with 1060 would probably be better for 1080p 144hz, but for any higher resolution I would go with the second one.

Get the stronger cpu option for higher fps minimums even if you settle for a 1060 for few months to a year. More than likely youll upgrade the gpu before cpu and with the next gen cards coming too youll have a decent cpu ready.

The 1060 is quite adequate for 1080P gaming (I play on one practically as we speak!), and, will be for some time....and for the love of God, so is the 8700. :)

And certainly, any cpu R5-1600 or i7-7700 / i5-8400 and above is more than adequate at saturating a GTX1060....
