whats up with mining cards

hi very curious im going to be getting a new graphic card and was wondering with all the high end cards been sold for mining purposes would there be anything wrong in buying a ex mining card for gaming

You'd have to test such card extensively.
It may be damaged by continuous operation in 100% usage mode and high temperatures.
May be - even has failed before and has been fixed temporarily by "baking". Such cards will fail eventually after some time again.

BTW - what's the model name of the card? Miners will not give away a model that does well in mining and has no problems.
