Hi all, I've got a strange anomaly with my 18 month old 510S 14" running windows 10. A couple of days ago I opened it up to boot up on battery and nothing happened. I plugged in the AC power supply and it fired into action. The battery indicator was showing 78% and charging. So I unplugged the AC and the machine shut down instantly. I plugged the AC back in and booted up without problem. I left it on for a while, then unplugged the AC once the battery had reached 98% charged - this time the machine stayed on using the battery. Then I experimented by restarting just on battery, and all was good. Then I shut down the laptop, left it for 10 mins, then tried to start up - nothing. Plugged in the AC and it came to life, still saying the battery was at 98% and charging. After several hours of online research, and assuming it was a battery fault I bought a replacement. I fitted the new battery, same issue. So it will restart on battery, but not boot up from cold on battery. AC is good and charges the battery, and once the machine has booted up I can unplug the AC and the machine will stay running on battery only. Anyone come across this before, or have an idea what the culprit might be? Many thanks in advance.

Hmm... Try checking in here..

1. Go to "Control Panel" and then "Power Options".
2. Click on "Change plan settings", next to the plan you are using.
3. Now click "Change advanced power settings".
4. Here you want to check all the settings, especially those for when the device is on battery power.
5. Once you have made all your changes, click "Apply" and then click "OK".
6. Reboot the computer.

Should that not help, then it may well be a motherboard issue.
