ASUS Rampage VI Extreme - GPU Slot Selection

My motherboard is the ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme and has 5 PCI-E expansion slots.

Slot no.
#1: PCI-E x16/x8_1 slot
#2: PCI-E x8_2 slot
#3: PCI-E x4_1 slot
#4: PCI-E x16/x8_3 slot
#5: PCI-E x8_4 slot

Because I am building a high performance computer and have decided to mount my GPU vertically (ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080Ti 011G) , I want to make sure I am plugging the Thermaltake TT Premium PCI-E x16 3.0 Black Extender Riser Cable into the slot that is going to give it the highest performance. I bought the 200mm cable but it only reaches to the #4 slot, which in the end is handier because it leaves the top 3 slots open for expansion cards.

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the #1 slot and the #4 slot in regards to speed and performance, but i'm still not 100% sure on that. Can someone confirm this for me? Also, does anyone know if using the Thermaltake TT Premium PCI-E x16 3.0 Black Extender Riser Cable has any impact or limits to the data transfer from the GPU to the motherboard - ie. Can the TT extender cable keep up to the same speeds as if the GPU was directly plugged in?

Any help for this is highly appreciated!

AFAIK, the chipset will use #4 at 16x, if you put a single card in it, so it should be ok.
Extender-cables are, of course, a risk in itself, but i did not hear anyone complain yet, so here as well: Good to go.
