Hello and thank you for reading my thread.
So, today I upgraded my RAM from one 8GB 1333MHz (Kingston Hyper X something) to two 8GB 1600MHz (Kingston Hyper X Fury). As I'm running them in dual channel, shouldn't they have a higher frequency?
The problem is, that wile being detected as 16GB of RAM running in dual channel, their frequency is still displayed as 1600MHz (BIOS and Task Manager). Trying to increase the frequency in (BIOS) results in a crash and the motherboard resets to default settings.

My specs are as follows:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790
(GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 Ti)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 3 (most recent firmware)
RAM: see above

A friend of mine runs a similar setup with an 4790k and Gaming 5. He's running two 8GB at 2400MHz just fine. Does the BIOS even display a change in Frequency in Dual Channel?

Do you have any suggestions? I'd be happy about all the advise I'd get.

Your rams are advertised and sold as a DDR3-1600Mhz kit so you're not crossing boundaries with any form of overclocks. Why overclock? You see if your rams are rated for operation at 1600MHz, anything above that frequency will mean you have to overclock the memory and the memory controller. You will need to manually tweak the timings to corresponding frequency's.

In short, yes you should be running at DDR3-1600Mhz and you're running at the frequency.
