Using Halos Lux with non-RGB motherboard

I have a Gigabyte ga-z97x-gaming 3 motherboard, that doesn't have a RGB header. I was wondering if i can use a LED controller that comes with normal led stripes and connect the Halos lux to that? will it work?

This should explain quite a lot. I think you can connect it to NZXT's Hue+ hub. If you have nothing in your system that has an RGB header. Heck you could just pick up one of Phanteks' case that has an RGB header+switch for changing on the fly like the P400S.
